This course prepares the student for the FAA Instrument Pilot Airplane written examination for the instrument pilot rating. This course will educate the student about the principles of instrument flight. This will include the operation, use, and limitations of flight instruments and instrument navigation systems. The air traffic control system functions and the use of instrument flight charts for IFR planning and flight will also be covered. Emphasis will be placed on advanced human factors and physiological factors directly related to instrument flight. In addition, the student will become familiar with the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) applicable to instrument flight operations. This course is only available to students in the Applied Technology Associate of Applied Science program pursuing the Aeronautical Science concentration. This course is only available off-campus through a participating Flight School Partner.
