This is a required course for the MN State Special Education Transfer Pathway and includes MN Standards of Effective Practice and Core Skills for Special Educators. General education teachers, paraeducators, and SPED teachers together play a vital role in supporting and providing instruction to special education students. This course offers an in-depth exploration of the diverse and exceptional characteristics, needs, interventions, and accommodations necessary to ensure today's special education students receive a free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment. Prerequisite(s): Course placement into college-level English and Reading or completion of ENGL 0950 with a grade of C or higher OR completion of RDNG 0940 with a grade of C or higher and qualifying English Placement Exam OR completion of RDNG 0950 with a grade of C or higher and ENGL 0090 with a grade of C or higher OR completion of ESOL 0051 with a grade of C or higher and ESOL 0052 with a grade of C or higher.
