This course integrates the academic and applied aspects of the basic patrol function for a patrol officer. Course topics include an in-depth examination of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to fulfill a patrol officer's duties, functions, and responsibilities. Students explore vehicle stops, traffic enforcement, pedestrian checks, officer safety issues, and other duties as they relate to the basic function of a patrol officer. This course requires completion of CJS 2081, CJS 2085, SOC 1033, SOC 1080, and SOC 2051 with grades of C or higher and CJS 1024 and ENGL 1024 with a grade of C or higher or be concurrently enrolled. Prerequisite(s); ENGL 1024 with a grade of 'C' or higher. CJS 1024, CJS 2081, CJS 2085, SOC 1080, SOC 1033, SOC 2051 with grades of C or higher.
