This course introduces the paramedic student to cardiac anatomy and physiology, cardiovascular diseases, and the function of the heart. Additional topics include EKG interpretation and cardiac monitoring devices. The student will apply their cardiac knowledge in classroom simulations. Students must be able to perform physical tasks to complete course requirements. This course requires Minnesota Human Services and National background studies with no restrictions; current AHA BLS Provider certification; current state EMT certification. Prerequisite(S): EMSE 1154 with a grade of C or higher. Recommendation(s): Basic word processing skills.
