This course expands on the foundational concepts presented in Introduction to Painting. Emphasis is placed on traditional and experimental approaches to painting using water-based oils. Topics include explorations of themes based on landscape, interior spaces, still life, and the human form. Painting assignments are supported by sketchbook exercises, readings, discussions, and research of historic, cultural, and contemporary painting issues. Open studio hours are available for outside class work if needed. Prerequisite(s): ART 1051 with a grade of C or higher Recommendation(s): ART 1024 and ART 1041
