In this course, students are introduced to the organization and architecture of computer systems. Computer Science students gain insight into the functional components of a computer system and their impact on performance. Topics covered include digital logic, data representation, CPU instructions and memory hierarchy. Problem solving is emphasized through the use of Microprocessor without Interlocked Pipeline Stages (MIPS) assembly language.
