Description:
This course provides teacher candidates the opportunity for intentional practice and mastery of scientific-based strategies and principles of engagement to effectively support literacy development in elementary learners, including students with special needs and from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Teacher candidates learn to design and implement lessons to engage students in applicable standards and integrate literacy across content areas. It includes a corresponding field placement where teacher candidates implement learned skills in an authentic classroom environment. This course is part of the College's competitive admissions programs and is therefore excluded from the tuition free Senior Citizen Tuition Policy. Prerequisites: EDC 300 or concurrent
