Students will explore three-dimensional sculptural forms and structures with an emphasis on how formal elements relate to the world outside of an art context. Assignments will focus on a variety of styles from representational to abstract. Students will also analyze the effectiveness of personal artwork and the work of others using terms and criteria common to art and broaden their knowledge of the cultural and historical relevance of sculpture. Students will learn to handle and store art materials safely in a collaborative environment.
