This course is a foundation-level study of the development, principles, and elements of two-dimensional artwork. Students will explore the concepts of composition through guided projects and demonstrations, using a variety of materials and techniques to build an understanding of the foundation of two-dimensional expression, and they will explain the historical and contemporary perspectives that influence two-dimensional design and the arts. Students will use a creative thinking process to experiment, brainstorm, and evaluate the effectiveness of personal artwork through critique. Students will also practice safety measures appropriate to the materials and processes for creating art works.
