Guided field trip to predetermined domestic or international locations. The course offers opportunities to experience music in a variety of settings, including historical and contemporary sites, museums, concerts, and cultural events to help students develop cultural appreciation and refine musical skills. Students will develop critical and analytical skills as demonstrated through written assignments. This course may also include hands-on rehearsal, clinic, and/or performance options. Repeatable up to 9 credits subject to graduation restrictions. Instructor permission is optional at the request of the instructor. For international travel, see studyabroad.utahtech.edu for additional travel costs that may apply. **COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES (CLOs) At the successful conclusion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Investigate and understand historical and contemporary music activities and the culture that creates it. 2. Evaluate primary sources of cultural music such as live performances, original documents, rare recordings, and representative venues. 3. Assess a location's musical environment including performers, composers and their musical output.
