Description:
-
The African American prophetic tradition has been the conscience of America. This course investigates the social gospel as preached by Martin Luther King, Jr., James Forbes, and Otis Moss III with introduction to the writings of James Cone and Cornell West. The father of the social gospel movement, the Baptist Walter Rauschenbusch, will be studied. Students will have the opportunity to preach the gospel in its social implications. Here is the gospel with sizzle, passion, and compassion for the "least of these."
