The course provides an introduction to drugs, their action and discovery. Topics covered include drug structure & solubility, structure-activity & quantitative structure relationships, drugs from natural sources, the role of biological membranes in drug delivery, the role of receptors & messengers, enzymes, and an introduction to drug and analogue synthesis. This course is offered in the fall semester of odd numbered years.
