This course places an emphasis on trees within the urban setting where typical surroundings and conditions will influence best management practices using applied tree care operations. Specialized topics and practices will include tree climbing and ground worker operations, and the identification of hazardous trees and tree defects. The students will receive directions on how to provide support to climbers aloft through roping and rigging skills, material handling, equipment operation, chainsaw safety, and customer service relations. Students can prepare for the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Tree Worker Certification, administered by the Minnesota Society of Arboriculture (MSA) and the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) Tree Inspector Certification process.
