This course encompasses review and discussion of the major principles and practices of Lean. This class provides a more detailed review and discussion of the major lean tools, including their use and application. There will also be discussion on the high level (overarching) principles and philosophies of Lean Manufacturing and Lean Enterprise. This class compliments and expands upon the basic concepts presented in Principles and Practices of Lean Manufacturing: Lean Tools and Techniques.This course utilizes a Lean Simulation tool to enhance the learning experience by demonstrating the actual use of Lean principles and tools in a simulated operations environment. The simulation tool compares and contrasts traditional processes with Lean to show subsequent results improvement. (Prereq: METS1505) (EP) 3 cr
