This course is an application of economics to the understanding the public sector, with particular emphasis on what business leaders need to know about government. Topics include voting, legislatures, regulation, lobbying, public relations, and crisis management. Readings will rely heavily on current news articles to illuminate the direct applicability of economics to the current business world. Students will use econometrics skills to analyze data directly relevant to managerial decision-making with regard to the public sector.
