This course provides an overview of crisis intervention. Students will learn about crisis intervention strategies based on current theory and practice in order to develop the conceptual competency necessary for law enforcement officers engaged in crisis intervention. Topics include behavior management and crisis intervention, dispute intervention and crisis management, and handling individuals with behavioral health issues and other special populations. This course meets the requirements established by the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy for Basic Police Officer Training.
