Explores the techniques in Motivational Interviewing that help clients find the internal motivation needed to make life changes. Students are introduced to how motivational processes, in this person-focused approach, are used in various human services professions to help clients work through the change process even as it may be difficult. Attention is given to students gaining familiarity with strategies that support client motivation by addressing concerns like ambivalence to change.
