Covers the activated sludge process, aeration systems and plant start-up as well as control strategies, handling operational issues and the basics of microbiology as it applies to activated sludge. Students are also taught activated sludge math, acceptable process modifications and an overview of the processes used for nitrogen and phosphorous removal. This course is ideal for current and former licensed PA Wastewater Operators and those pursuing their wastewater treatment operator's license. This course provides Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) Continuing Education (CE) credit units for operators holding a current license.
