This course will provide an introduction to the basic skills required in residential home construction. Participants will develop skills in the safe use of basic power tools, and observe safe operation of power equipment. They will learn the basics of framing and drywall installation and finishing. The class will provide a basic understanding of the correct layout of residential water supply and drainage lines. Participants will learn proper soldering technique for copper tubing and how to correctly install PVC drain piping. They will also learn the steps in installing faucets and toilets. Participants will learn Ohm's Law and how it applies to residential wiring. Parallel and series circuits will be covered along with breaker boxes and breakers. The importance of selection of the proper wire size will be stressed. Participants will get an opportunity to wire common switches and outlets found in residential construction.
