This comprehensive course consists of 5 modules including Medical Office Operations; Introduction to Medical Insurance, Patient Triage for Physician Office Assistant (POA), Introduction to Healthcare Applications; Practicum (optional). At the completion of the training the student will: describe the overall culture & climate of today's healthcare system; identify formal & informal communication skills when working with healthcare clients, describe professionalism in the healthcare setting; explain the process of preparing billing claims, authorizations, & verifications; explain the process of triaging in a front office setting & scope of practice; describe & apply the fundamental use of computer hardware and software; perform skills learned through theory & practice in the classroom setting. Students will be prepared for an entry level position in a healthcare office. This course is taken in its entirety at Spanish American Civic Association (SACA) TecCentro.
