This program is designed to prepare individuals for careers medical community that involve coding or claims processing. Coding Specialists are responsible for translating and sequencing medical documentation into formal standardized, numerical codes for diagnoses and procedures. Coding Specialists work closely with healthcare providers to ensure the accuracy of the translation. Medical coding is a vital behind-the-scenes activity that supports the coding process and quality patient care. The program focuses on advanced coding skills and preparing for certification in this field. The program is composed of five courses. Students will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to sit for the Certified Professional Coding examination administered by the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC).
