This introductory course is designed to meet the NFPA requirements for awareness-level training of emergency response personnel who may be called upon to respond to water rescue related emergencies. Topics covered include preplanning responses to water rescue emergencies, scene safety, dynamics of moving water, communication, incident command, and an introduction to the rescue sequence utilized when operating on the scene of water rescue incidents. This course does not certify personnel to perform shore- based or in-water rescue techniques.
