Covers rescue situations that involve confined spaces. The course topics include definitions, regulations, identification, needs, psychology and techniques. Practical application of rescue techniques are practiced in real confined spaces. This course requires that students have: note taking materials; a hard hat or helmet with chin strap; work shoes or boots (steel-toe preferred); eye protection; positive pressure Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA); knee pads, if possible; work clothes including coveralls or items that can be soiled; a 15-20-foot piece of rope for knot tying exercise; two pairs of gloves (one clean pair) for knot tying and one pair that may be heavily soiled. Persons attending this 16-hour training should have experience, expertise or training in subjects, such as respiratory protection equipment, including SCBA, and/or rope rescue or rigging techniques are preferred prerequisites. Prerequisites: Must be a minimum age of 18 years old. Respiratory Protection I (REPA) and Rope/High Angle Rescue II (RORA) are preferred prerequisites.
