This course is designed to prepare the Exposure Control Officer (ECO) to fully meet the requirements for the position established under NFPA 1581, OSHA, and the Ryan White Law. Every emergency response employer in the United States is required by law to have at least one Exposure Control Officer (ECO) and it is to have one per shift to manage exposure issues for the department. Understanding this role and the many aspects of this job is important to assist with risk management and department member advocacy. The role and responsibilities along with a job description are presented along with step by step program formulation to enable the course participant to return to his/her workplace and set up a working program. A well trained designated officer will be an effective advocate for both the members of the department as well as the adminstration.
