Prepares students to deliver therapy to patients prior to their arrival in hospital emergency rooms. Students are trained in life-support procedures performed by following orders of physicians sent by radio or through following standard medical protocols. This course focuses on the pathophysiology and treatment of diseases associated with the following body systems: respiratory, cardiovascular neurology, hematology and blood disorders. Students complete hospital emergency department rotations, as well as 16-hours of anesthesia rotations. Students must have a current Pennsylvania or National Registry AEMT certificate. This course is the second course of the four-course Paramedic certificate.
