Study of reinforced concrete analysis and design. Topics covered include codes, fundamental mechanics, beam bending, beam shear and beam deflection. Prerequisite or Corequisite: CE 310. Course Objectives 1) Identify the consituents and properties of reinforced concrete. 2) Apply the ACI Design specificiation criteria to produce safe and functional components. 3) Optimize the size of reinforcing in concrete beam including both tension and compression reinforcement. 4) Calculate the size and place shear reinforcement. 5)Evaluate rebar embedment requirements. 6) Produce finished drawing of their component designs. 7) Construct compute models for structural analysis and design and produce results using commercial structrual software and spreadsheets.
