This capstone class requires students to interpret knowledge gained throughout their coursework in the University core and major program in order to conceptualize a business model (mission/vision/values), analyze a company's business model, and create a business operations plan for a theoretical organization. An e-Portfolio will be utilized for assessment purposes. Prerequisites: ACCT, BMGT, or ECON/FIN Major. 90 or more credit hours. ACCT 101 & 102; BMGT 201, 202, 300; ECON 201, 202; and any 1 course in the student's concentration area. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: (1) Demonstrate technological proficiency of research methods, and be able to interpret (both orally and in writing) the business model of an organization. (2) Justify the legal business structure and be able to apply accounting, management, marketing, economics, and finance principles to for-profit or nonprofit organizations. (3) Assemble financial, operating, and marketing documents; and summarize the results for presentation to the class. (4) Assess the key ethical, political, economic, socio-cultural, historical, and environmental issues related to developing a business, and integrate this knowledge into the plans for operating a for-profit or nonprofit business.
