An extensive seminar/workshop in which the student director continues to enhance his/her knowledge of both the art and craft of directing. Though the emphasis is principally the Raymond Laine One Act Festival , the aspects of craft and the organizational tools necessary for the evolution of the dramatic process will be studied. Prerequisites: THEA 210/THEA 211 and permission of instructor and department chair. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to: (1) Apply the fundamentals of directing. (2) Analyze scripts. (3) Utilize strategies of communication, develop an individual communication style between director and actor. (4) Develop a systematic approach to a "realistic" one act. (5) Explore some of the perspectives of some of the world's leading directors. (6) Organize and prioritize budget items. (7) Synthesize management and technical skills to direct a 30 minute one act upholding the playwright's original intent
