This course will cover many facets of the Sports, Arts and Entertainment business, and students will comprehend how live entertainment is a part of all of the disciplines. Highlights include training in the fundamentals of the entertainment business, which includes marketing, promotion, advertising, finance, theatre production, venue management, artist management, artist touring, the recording industry, ticketing operations, sponsorship and more. Prerequisites: SAEM Major, SAEM 101. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: (1) Summarize the skills necessary to work in a diverse environment in the sports, arts, and entertainment industries. (2) Interpret the team members necessary to put on a live event in sports, arts, or entertainment management, and determine which ones they would need to incorporate to make their event successful. (3) Outline the various sources of income and expenses required to put on a live event in sports, arts, and entertainment. (4) Describe some of the key ethical dilemmas facing producers of live events.
