Building on the base of knowledge acquired in UAPP693 or similar coursework, students will learn about how economic activity is measured, how the national economy is managed, and how public goods and services are financed at different levels of government. In addition, a variety of real world examples will be used to explore how public policy can be used to enhance the functioning of private markets, the promotion of economic growth, and the minimization of negative externalities, such as pollution and economic inequality. PREREQ: UAPP693 or ECON503.
