PNG 205 will cover the instruments, documentation and data used in typical Petroleum and Natural Gas (PNG) applications. Students will learn to read and create Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) which are used to document the equipment in PNG applications. They will learn the concepts of control algorithms (PID), valves, actuators, flow control instruments, pressure control instruments, temperature control instruments, specific gravity, viscosity, pH and level control instruments. Computer simulation will provide experience with process control systems and the use of various instruments from industrial applications. Students will study and interact Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and its Human Machine Interface (HMI) Students will control and operate instruments and collect and analyze data from those instruments.
