A course that examines, the relationship between dance and its surrounding, cultural landscape and provides an investigation, into the study of dance within various non-western, cultures from around the world. Emphasis is placed, on dance and human movement as a form of cultural, knowledge that is imbued with meaning and is a, reflection of values. Students will engage in a, cross-cultural analysis of how dance is used for, various social, economic, political, religious,, cultural and aesthetic purposes in order to, increase their awareness and understanding of, human cultural activity.
