This is an introductory programming course for engineers and science majors. Students will implement mathematical concepts to design, write, and debug computer programs using a current programming language, MATLAB, that makes it possible to write a powerful program in a few lines. The course also focuses on mathematical models and numerical methods for solving them as well as program flow planning and graphical user interface design. Topics covered will include matrices and operators, functions and systems of equations, least squares regression, interpolation, root finding, numerical differentiation and integration. Students will also perform data analysis and algorithm development using Excel spreadsheets. This course is subject to a course fee.
