In the clinical setting, students are introduced to the clinical care of a patient and family with chronic illness using the concepts of health promotion, safety, clinical judgment, leadership, patient-centeredness, and professionalism. Students use caring behaviors, therapeutic communication, and advocacy when providing care to patients which chronic illness across the lifespan. Students identify the roles and values of the members of the interprofessional healthcare team. The patient and family lived experience is emphasized. Prerequisite: Completion of NURS 1100 and NURS 1115. Corequisite: Concurrent enrollment in NURS 1200.
