Description:
This course is open to all instrumentalists and vocalists. Although students will primarily focus on the traditional music of Ireland, they will also touch on the music of Celtic Europe and the Celtic diaspora, including Brittany, Galicia, Scotland, England, Canada, and the United States. Students study the musical history of these regions, as well as the context, style, and ornamentation. Students learn music by ear and arrange and prepare material for a performance at the end of the semester.
