Description:
Students explain equipment and setup, electrodes, and electrode selection used in shielded metal arc welding. Students develop manual skills necessary to produce single and multiple pass welds with backing plate in all positions as defined by the American Welding Society standards of acceptability. Students demonstrate proper use of filler metals such as low hydrogen, non-low hydrogen, and iron powder electrodes commonly used in the welding industry and also specified by the American Welding Society. This course has an associated course fee. Prerequisite: Completion of WELD 1755.
