This course reinforces core music theory concepts by developing rudimentary keyboard skills taught in a group setting. Emphasis is placed on the preparation for a piano proficiency exam required by most four-year music programs. The first course in a four-semester sequence, MUSC 1290 Keyboard Theory I covers keyboard and notation basics, five-finger positions and patterns, drone accompaniments, and playing in different registers.
