Description:

This course prepares prospective elementary school teachers to be competent in teaching the major concepts and practical skills related to the real number system with the four arithmetic operations. Special emphasis is placed on teaching in the context of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Standards. Activities involving math manipulatives will be performed in order to reinforce content. Students will also observe math lessons being taught in elementary school classrooms. This course does not satisfy the mathematics requirement at NWCCD or UW.
