This travel course examines the history, culture, and art of Florence, emphasizing the political, religious, and artistic currents that contributed to its place of importance in the Renaissance.  Historic landmarks, monuments, and works of art, as well as influential thinkers, leaders, and artists will be examined. Development of intercultural competence will also allow students to gain a deeper understanding of and appreciation for the Italian culture and its contributions to Western civilization. Students will then travel to Italy and study the Italian language and culture. This course partially fulfills the A, HFA, and IG credit requirements.
