Description: This seminar investigates the origins and growth of pilgrimage in the Middle Ages. We'll explore the factors that motivated pilgrims to undertake such lengthy journeys, survey the variety of Romanesque monuments and sculptures pilgrims encountered along the way, and analyze the legendary stories about saints and miracles that circulated on the trail. This course may require the use of AR/VR headsets and/or creative digital media visualization technologies. Prerequisite: HMXP 102 or HMXP 102H or HXCT 301 with a C- or higher or permission of instructor.
