In this course, students will develop techniques of jazz dance. Emphasis is placed upon cultural and historical understanding, styling, rhythm, musicality, and phrasing. It draws from the origins of American jazz dance including vernacular jazz forms, influences from the Afro-Caribbean Diaspora, and Broadway, as well as urban, funk, and contemporary influences. Prerequisites: Full Major status in the School of Dance OR Instructor Consent.
