This course provides students an introduction to the key concepts necessary to serve as a substance use disorder counselor in their practicum placements and in the field upon graduation. These include an overview of the twelve core functions, substance abuse theories, counseling skills and standards for client documentation. Prerequisites: 'C' or better in SW 2715 AND SW 2716 AND SW 3725 AND SW 3731 AND SW 3732 AND Admission to Substance Use Disorder Treatment Training Certificate Program AND Department Consent Corequisites: SW 5706 OR SW 5707
