This is an introduction to Hispanic Linguistics through a variety of linguistic subfields, including sociolinguistics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and pragmatics. The course will provide an overview of historic and current topics in these fields. A main goal of the course is to develop critical reading skills while learning about different theories, key terms, and various methodologies used in different types of linguistic studies. Grading is based on participation, homework, class work, and exams. Taught in Spanish. WLC 2020 is recommended as a prerequisite. Prerequisites: SPAN 3040 OR SPAN 3060
