EGR 221 - Statics/Strength Of Materials

Institution:
Westmoreland County Community College
Subject:
Engineering
Description:
Topics covered include concurrent force systems in equilibrium found in trusses, frames, and machines; free-body diagrams; equilibrium of rigid and deformable bodies with non-concurrent point, distributed, torsional, and frictional loads; moments, couples, and equivalent force systems; centroids, center of mass, and second moment of areas; normal and shear stress, strain, and deformation; shear force, bending moment, and deflection calculations and diagrams for beams. Graphical, analytical, and numerical techniques are used to solve problems with the help of a vector-capable engineering calculator.
