Examines the politics of the People's Republic of China since 1949. Analyzes important aspects of Chinese political and economic institutions and governance, such as party-state, political economy, judicial system, military, dissent politics, and foreign policy. Explains Chinese geographic and demographic features and how those features affect Chinese politics and economy. Discusses significant effects and implications which China's political modernization and economic growth might have across its border.
