The course is divided into 3 major sections. The immune system and its components, complement, antibody and antigens, cellular and humoral immunity are described. Immune-mediated diseases, such as AIDS, Hemolytic Disease of the Newborn and Lupus Erythematosis are discussed. Diseases that are diagnosed using serologic methods, such as syphilis, infectious mononucleosis, and measles are discussed. Current methodologies used in the medical serology and immunodiagnostic laboratory are introduced. Permission is required.
