An examination of the philosophical elements of law and the connections between these elements and criminal justice policy and practice. By reading works from classical and modern authors, students analyze notions such as legal obedience, human rights, responsibility, personal liberty, punishment, a just (or unjust) constitution, just laws, and the relation between law and morality.
