Study of the advanced practice nursing management of complex nursing problems of children and families experiencing acute, life-threatening and chronic illnesses. Examination of cultural influences related to health and wellness of children, the role of public policy as it relates to child health, and the advanced practice nurse's involvement in policy formation. Discussion of ethical issues related to provision of care and end of life care. Addresses the Pediatric Nurse Specialist concept in terms of development, roles, economic impact and future directions in pediatric health care. Analysis of advanced pediatric nursing research. Prerequisites: NUR 540, 542.
