This course advances the student?s understanding of computer architecture which began in ?Computer Organization? to include detailed treatment of all key organizational issues including I/O, RISC instruction set, cache memory, internal and external memory, parallel processors, and micro-programmed implementation. Additional topics include: input and output storage systems, systems software, alternative architectures, embedded systems, performance measurement and analysis, and network organization and architecture. Prerequisite: CIS 321.
