The course is based on concurrent engineering techniques to link product design to modern manufacturing and assembly process design. The course will also introduce students to modern manufacturing and assembly process design techniques used to reduce costs. By successfully completing this course, students will be able to: design new products while considering manufacturing and/or assembly processes; redesign existing products to reduce product realization costs; analyze manufacturing and assembly systems to determine inefficiencies; and apply several other Design for X principles.
